Willits Airport Day & Sixties Fly-In

airportday2

The 2014 Willits Airport Day & Sixties Fly-In is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10am to 4pm, reports airport manager Dan Ramsey. "This year's event honors the half-century that Ells Field has served Willits, Brooktrails, and Mendocino County with transportation, recreational, and emergency services. Everyone should be proud of our community airport."

Last year's event included more than two dozen aircraft flying in from around northern California including a CHP airplane and helicopter, the REACH emergency helicopter, plus the Little Lake and Brooktrails departments. Food was provided by the local Lions Club and Boy Scout troup, Taqueria Ramirez, and others. More aircraft and vendors are expected to help celebrate the airport's 50th year.

This year's celebration will include historic aircraft, classic cars, and Sixties music. Airplane and helicopter rides will be for sale again to view the valley and the 101 bypass construction.

Now and Then Film Series Presents - Food For Change

Now and Then Film Series Presents ~ Food for Change, a film about food & cooperation on September 18, 2014 at 7pm at the Little Lake Grange, 291 School Street, Willits.

Food for Change is inspiring and emotional - a strong voice in the push for sustainability within our communities.

Food for Change gives us a strong understanding of the history and role of food co-ops. This film does a remarkable job using vintage footage of co-ops in the United States since the 1930s. It is a movie that shows how current global issues can be tackled locally using the time-tested principles of cooperation.

More about Food For Change at: http://foodforchange.coop/

Suggested Donation of $5 helps sustain this monthly film series. Organic popcorn and chocolate, refreshments for sale by the Grange.
