Willits Community Festival & Car Show

Take a step back in time and get ready for a rockin ‘n rollin good time in Willits, California!   Mark you calendars for the 27th Annual Willits Community Festival & Car Show Saturday and Sunday, May 24 - 25.   This year's event promises to be fun for the entire family.  Here’s the scoop:

If you have a Pre-1973 automobile that you would like to enter in the car show, please download the 2008 Car Show Participant Entry Form and the 2008 Car Show Participant Info Flier.  We accept entries the day of the show.

If you are a vendor and would like enter, please download a 2008 Vendor Booth Space Application Form and the 2008 Vendor Booth Space Information Brochure.  

The deadline for submitting a Vendor Booth
Space Application is April 25, 2008.

Saturday, May 24

Seabiscuit's 75th Birthday Diamond Walking Tour & Reception - By reservation only.  Cost is $50 per person.   For more information, click here or call 707-459-7910.

Hot Rod BBQ, Show 'n Shine & Music - What a way to kick off the festival & car show!  Enjoy some good food and good times as you stroll through the park previewing of some of the car show participants polishing up their beautiful classic cars as they prepare for the Car Show on Sunday.  Break out that poodle skirt and put on your dancin’ shoes and bebop to the cool tunes of the ‘50s & ‘60’s.   Bring your friends and family down to Recreation Grove Park (corner of E. Commercial & S. Lenore Streets) from 5:00pm to 7:30pm and have a great time.  Cost for the barbeque is $12 for Adult, $7 for children under 12.

 Sunday, May 25     

Lions Club Pancake Breakfast – The day begins bright and early, with an “engine starting” pancake breakfast, served up by the Willits Lions Club from 7am to 10am in Recreation Grove Park.  The yummy breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, juice and coffee is prepared and served by the Lions Club members in the Frontier Days Cookhouse at the east side of Recreation Grove Park in downtown Willits. The breakfast is open to the public and tickets are available on site.  Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Classic Car Show – Take a stroll down memory lane and enjoy the beautiful Pre-1973 classic cars on display in Recreation Grove Park from 10am to 4pm.  Cars come from all over California and as far away as Oregon and Nevada to bring their lovingly preserved and restored classics to the show. 

Memorial Day Ceremony – The American Legion Post 174’s color guard will present the colors at noon at the main stage area.   Jeff Whitby, well-known for his skill with the ancient Scottish bagpipes, will lead the procession in remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. 

Car Show Games – Here’s an opportunity to cheer your favorite car show participants on as they demonstrate their skills throughout the day by competing in a variety of fun games such as the Push Rod Drop, Lifter Stack, Spark Plug Change and Fan Belt Toss.  

Concession Booths – While cruising through the classic cars be sure to get a bit to eat and stop by Concessionaire Alley, open from 10am – 4pm.  There you’ll find a wide array of gift items, arts & crafts and information booths.  

Mendocino County Museum/Roots of Motive Power Open House – The museum, located across the street from the festival, is rated as one of the best small town museums in the country.  The museum is open from 10am to 4:30pm.   Stop by and enjoy some of Willits and Mendocino County local history.    The Roots of Motive Power (ROOTS) has carefully maintained and preserved historic steam and diesel-powered equipment used in the California north coast logging industry from the 1850s to the present.  The Roots Maintenance & Restoration building will be open to the public during the festival and car show with volunteers on hand to answer questions about logging and railroad equipment.

Awards & Prize Drawings – Be sure you purchase your drawing tickets. There are great prizes this year from a pedal car to a Radio Flyer red wagon.  The drawing for prizes takes place just before the Car Show Participant Awards Ceremony at 3:30pm
